Sempre AgTech Acquires Research Station in Southeastern Brazil
Sempre AgTech, a genetics and biotechnology research company based in Santa Catarina, Brazil, has acquired a BASF research station in Uberlândia, a municipality in the state of Minas Gerais, located in southeastern Brazil. According to the company the unit is comprised of 410,60 square meters of built area and experimental fields, and has more than 60 greenhouses, some of which are fully automated to serve bioassays with biotechnological assets, and the new facility is expected to accelerate Sempre AgTech’s hybrid improvement processes.
The acquisition is expected to advance the development of GM and edited lines with improved performance in specific regions and ecosystems within the country. The new experimental station will operate in connection with the projects of the Santa Helena de Goiás (GO) and Toledo (PR) units, under the coordination of WIN, the innovation division of Sempre AgTech, which is installed at the Institute for Technological Research (IPT), in São Paulo.
