Researchers at the University of Adelaide, in collaboration with Nanjing Agriculture University, have made a discovery that will support the development of Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) resistance in wheat crops, determining the functionality of the TaHRC gene at the Fhb1 locus and how it affects a plant’s susceptibility to FHB. Knowledge gained from the discovery is expected to be used in the development of wheat breeding strategies for improved FHB resistance.
