USDA Deregulates Snowden Z6 Potato
APRIL 27, 2021
The USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has granted deregulation status to JR Simplot’s potato variety, Snowden Z6 Potato. This variety has been developed to provide late blight protection, lowered reducing sugars, low acrylamide potential, and reduced black spot bruising. APHIS previously deregulated these traits in another Simplot potato variety, referred to as Innate W8 Russet Burbank potato. Snowden Z6 Potato received Australia import approval in January 2021.
