Bayer Gains Australia Approval for GM Cotton Trials

Bayer has received a licence from Australia's Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) to grow field trials of GM cotton modified for herbicide tolerance and insect resistance. The trial will run from September 2024 to September 2029. The field trial may be conducted at up to 25 sites with a combined total area of 10 hectares in 2024, 50 hectares per year in 2025-2027 and 100 hectares per year in 2028-2029.

The approved GM cotton plants may contain the following GM events, used either individually or in stacked combinations:
