Deregulation Status Extended for DP56113 in US
MAY 27, 2021
The USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has extended the deregulation status of Corteva's genetically modified maize variety, designated as DP56113. The maize variety is engineered to maintain and recover male-sterile maize breeding lines for use in the Seed Production Technology for Africa Process.
APHIS previously reviewed and deregulated the traits in DP56113 maize in another maize variety developed by Pioneer, referred to as DP-32138-1. Along with Pioneer’s extension request, APHIS also prepared a Plant Pest Risk Similarity Assessment (PPRSA), concluding that DP56113 maize is not more likely to pose a plant pest risk than the previously deregulated DP-32138-1 maize.
